Nepal Students' Union (NSU), the student wing Nepali Congress (NC) has staged demonstrations in front of government colleges in Kathmandu, Friday.
NSU halted traffic in front of the colleges from 9.30 am to 10.00 am, Friday demanding immediate release of Tri-Chandra College Free Students Union, vice chairman Bishnu Poudel.
Traffic in the valley was badly affected due to the obstruction during rush hour.
Poudel was arrested on charges of attacks on student leaders affiliated to other parties including CPN(UML) affiliated ANNFSU Tri Chandra unit chairman Samik Badal on April 12.
NSU has said, it will intensify its protest programmes if its leader is not released and charges against him and other leaders not revoked.
Police have filed a complaint against Poudel along with central members Santosh Neupane, Bhim Singh Gurung, Sanjay Yadav and Manish Koirala.
